AFRIKAANS is a language the white government tried to force african citizens to learn during the apartheid . they gave the african ppl no basic human rights but wanted to “appropriate” their language. this led to the SOWETO uprising in ‘76 & innocent men, women, and children were killed for it. this tragedy led to the world taking notice to the injustices in Africa & sparked a revolution. this beat tape is meant to place the listening in the world of african music during that time.
